As Melbourne chills, DiMase Architects crafts your winter haven. Explore our page for sustainable design that maximises warmth and minimises environmental impact. We navigate cost considerations specific to Melbourne's winter.
But sustainability is not all because, SHOPFRONT_342 newest displays featured Zena Cumpston's captivating exhibition 'Value!' and the thought-provoking 'Green Peace' by Dropbear (Jonathan Chong).
This month's newsletter also features the latest update on the Kangaroo Ground Primary School upgrade. It is our largest project and most challenging - so it's great to see progress on site.

Wall under construction: framing, insulation, and electrical prep.

DiMase Architects embraces winter! This July, we explore design strategies that transform your Melbourne home into a naturally warm and cozy haven.
Harness the Winter Sun: Large windows strategically placed throughout your home capture the low winter sun, bathing your living spaces in natural light and warmth. Not only does this reduce reliance on electric lighting, but it also creates a naturally cheerful atmosphere that combats the winter blues.

This helps keep homes warm in the winter & cool in the summer.

|
Embrace Passive Power: Superior insulation in walls, ceilings, and floors acts as a thermal barrier, keeping precious heat inside during winter and cool air in during summer. This reduces energy consumption, lowering your carbon footprint and utility bills. Complement this with exposed brick or concrete elements that act as natural heat banks. These materials absorb the sun's warmth throughout the day, radiating it back into the living space long after the sun sets,
providing a gentle and sustainable source of warmth.
Sustainable Design Expertise: We know how to integrate solar principles into your existing home or new building project. We'll work with you to design a space that prioritises both comfort and environmental responsibility, ensuring your Melbourne winter is a season of cosy enjoyment that doesn't cost the earth.

KANGAROO GROUND PRIMARY SCHOOL
|
|
|
|
Kangaroo Ground Primary School is a State School which received funding for a new Administration and Classroom building back in 2021. COVID and a building contractor going into voluntary administration delayed the project and so we are grateful to finally see progress on site. ARC-3 are a commercial building company who are diligently working through the myriad of that a site in semi rural Melbourne is throwing at them. The challenges include working out where all the existing building services are located, bad weather and working on a live site with curious primary school children moving close to a construction site.
Aidan and Gabe who are running the site are excellent commercial builders. They are transforming the school grounds with the new building that we designed back in 2022. It is the biggest architectural project we have undertaken here at DiMase Architects and we are proud of the fact that our documents and attention to detail has been recognised by the contractors on site. The project includes a large area of new landscape work around
the building and what has pleased us the most is just how well the building footprint integrates into the existing school grounds. We can already imagine teachers and students roaming around the building as the move between existing and new facilities. We will keep you updated on progress as the work progresses.
